Mission
Under the direct supervision of the Global commodity Director for Chemicals, the Commodity Manager will be in charge of leading and control the purchasing of components and/or raw materials in China for all Business Units of the Company. The Chemicals commodity includes plastics, resins, rubber, various non metallic raw materials, coatings, adhesives, fibers, electronic components …
- As the Global Commodity Leader, you understand and effectively communicate global business trends and drivers that include technological and business footprints of the components and raw materials.
- You segment and define supply base to support trends and drivers.
- You possess knowledge of the Asian supply market trends and characteristics (e.g., associations, conferences, etc).
- You define commodity strategies to achieve corporate, purchasing & BU goals/objectives. This should include supply base rationalization, development & spend management/segmentation for geographic considerations.
- You utilize commodity expertise and Commodity strategies to create/update Business Plans and Strategic Plan Metrics: incl. (but not limited to) MCS (Material Cost Savings), BCC objectives, supplier performance objectives, advanced technology drivers
- You develop Supplier Partnerships/Strategic Alliances as necessary to support/enhance commodities strategies.
- You serve as focal point for escalation of all supplier relationship issues.
- You drive supplier approval process.
- You manage cross-functional team (incl. BU and Purchasing functions).
- As Contract Sponsor, you negotiate, create, maintain & enforce all commodity supplier contracts
- You travel to suppliers and other company facilities as required for this position.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business / Materials Management or Logistics required with a preference for an MBA or Purchasing Education.
- Min. 3-5 years Purchasing/Procurement and / or a Materials Management related field with a preference towards high volume manufacturing related industries.
- Demonstrated background and proven experience with high level supplier negotiations and materials management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong personality with a high energy level and creativity. Solution and result orientation.
- Fluent Mandarin and English is required.
