Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is looking for a European Commodity Buyer to complete his team.
Our client is an expert in creating fuel system functions. It has a worldwide presence and a strong reputation in this field.

Mission 

The Commodity Buyer is responsible for developing and implementing a formal strategy, sourcing new components, driving cost reductions, and supporting pre-production, production, and development programmes.  The Commodity Buyer will manage the suppliers within his/her commodity areas of direct components for a portfolio of 50M€.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop formal written commodity strategies for all assigned commodities and programme strategies for assigned programmes
  2. Issue and analyse request for quotations (RFQs) from approved suppliers to support the production and pre-production requirements (components, materials, and component tooling).
  3. Lead sourcing decisions. Negotiate price, delivery and payment terms.
  4. Develop, maintain, and publish appropriate documentation as required by the applicable purchasing procedures.
  5. Work with suppliers, program teams, and plants to drive cost reductions.
  6. Assist in the establishment of supply base performance targets.
  7. Work closely with other functional areas and the manufacturing plants to establish an effective supply base.
  8. Manage supplier price changes, debit issues, cost reductions, engineering changes, and key supplier activities.
  9. Actively participate in program planning and status meetings.
  10. Management of transversal projects.

Profile 

  1. Master Degree or equivalent (preferably in engineering or purchasing) and a minimum of 2/3 years of relevant experience in an industrial environment.
  2. Strong grasp of mechanical concepts along with a good business and strategic vision.
  3. Expert in analysing cost structures/drivers relating to supplier price submissions.
  4. Proven ability to successfully negotiate prices, timing, and terms in support of objectives.
  5. Fully capable of conceptualising and understanding multiple production processes, descriptions and related equipment specifications.
  6. In depth knowledge of fundamental purchasing practices, procedures, and policies.
  7. Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers.
  8. Must be flexible, dependable and creative.
  9. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  10. Ability to collect, maintain and analyse data.
  11. Must be able to manage time and determine priorities.
  12. Good business vision
