Our Client
is a leading supplier of precision injection moulded products, for some of the world's leading brands. As a Contract Manufacturer (from components and modules to finished packaged products) with global resources in Europe, Asia and the Americas, they offer a proven track record for delivering total solutions in large-scale projects. Due to substantial advancement of the purchasing function they are looking for an experienced Commodity Buyer to lead purchasing projects in the area of new product development and support introduction of best practices in the department.
The role
The person on the position of Commodity Buyer will be responsible for realization of purchasing policy in the area of direct materials (metals or electronic components), supporting Purchasing Manager in introduction of purchasing best practices and procedures, identification and introduction of new suppliers within the commodity group. The role reports to Purchasing Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Effective leadership and management of purchasing projects
- Ensuring the optimal cost level
- Ensuring good quality and on-time delivery of the supplied products
- Supplier sourcing (local/ international), benchmarking studies
- Gathering, monitoring and reporting of commodity pricing
- Supplier selection assuring best price and quality level
- Assuring of alternative supply sources
- Negotiations
- Preparation of RFI's/ RFQ's, detailed cost analysis
- Supporting short term/ long term purchasing planning process
- Introduction of cost savings initiatives
- Supporting tendering process by providing information about products, suppliers and costs
- Supplier evaluation, supporting SQA - conducting periodical suppliers audits together with quality department representatives
- Measuring / giving feedback on supplier performance
- Lead supplier performance / material performance / service and Quality improvement projects
- Lead and generate ideas for Value Engineering projects
- Introduction of purchasing procedures – supporting changes in the purchasing department from operational to value creation
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing – strategic role (direct commodities, preferably metals or electronic components – market knowledge, key suppliers) in international organization
- Experience in strategic sourcing – proven track record in delivering results
- Knowledge of purchasing tools ex. cost breakdowns/ TCO
- Experience in project purchasing (new product development), project management experience
- Very good/ fluent English
