Mission
- Reporting to the Global Purchasing Manager, the Commodity Buyer – Advanced Purchasing will act as the primary support for various Commodity Managers by preparing required documentation for New Business and Programs.
- He/ She will also be responsible for driving the approved Advanced Purchasing process and supporting various commodity strategies as they are responsible for sourcing all new components required to support new business for each respective product line.
- He/she will provide support to Product Team, Engineering, Operations and Inventory Planning for quoting new business opportunities for GA.
- He/she will provide support to the Commodity Managers by working within their approved supply base and using new business opportunities to leverage price reductions on current production parts . Will make sourcing recommendations and supplier consolidation.
- Contributes to GA gross margin and revenue targets by aligning sourcing strategy with NPI goals set by each product team.
- Interface between suppliers and engineering/operations/sales to answer any questions and resolve any concerns related to RFQ or validation documents.
- Interface between suppliers and engineering/inventory planning/product team to answer any questions and resolve any NPI related launch issues.
- Has authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to the product, process and quality system and the authority to stop further work on non-conforming suspect product until the deficiency or conditions have been corrected.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business/Materials Management or Logistics required.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement and / or a Materials Management related field with a preference towards high-variety, low-volume aftermarket manufacturing related industries.
- Demonstrated background and proven experience with RFQ processes, data analysis, supply chain/materials management and commodity support.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of Management.
